As part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, Indiewalls added its own “signature” to the story of The Louie, A Davenport Hotel: a research-driven art curation that layers warmth, curiosity, and a distinctly human touch into the space.
This collection finds its conceptual foundation in the life and letters of the hotel’s founder, Louie Davenport, and highlights the presence of local and regional artists. With a keen eye for a visible artist’s hand, we explored the public spaces through five defining art moments: Lobby Column – a centerpiece where art becomes architectural. Entry Seating & Corridor Pieces – works that greet and guide guests as they arrive. Wallcovering Mural at the Ceiling – an immersive gesture that invites guests to look up and linger. Salon-Style Gallery Wall – a layered dialogue of images that feels both curated and collected. Additional public space accents that connect tradition with discovery.
Our curatorial process embraced traditional finishes paired with unexpected touches: playful botanicals, diary-like pieces, and works that feel like discoveries—treasures pulled from a drawer and brought into the light. The result is a collection that balances sophistication with whimsy, heritage with surprise. Together, the artworks invite guests to slow down, notice the details, and feel welcomed home.
