THE STORY

The new art collection at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa traces the journey of water moving from the heights of nearby mountains down through the Coachella Valley. Rooted in the tension between geology and geometry, every artwork marks a stage of that passage. Then the color palette draws from the sunrises and sunsets reflecting off the hills, juxtaposed with the verdant greens of the golf courses that define the area. These elements work together to create an authentic representation of the Coachella Valley.

A Boulder-Inspired Hanging Installation

The guests’ arrival experience is defined by Ashley Nardone's suspended boulder installation in the reception area. Inspired by the formations and colors of the desert, this piece adds color and texture to create a perfect opening moment for everything that follows. "It's so immersive and unexpected. It really turns the idea of rock and boulders on its head, making it very ethereal and light. Suspending it in the ceiling is such an overture for the full experience of the property." - Anthony Agram, Principal at Bishop Pass.

A Range of Mediums, Including 3D Printed Ceramics

Brian Peters’ 3D-printed ceramic wall pieces trace the journey of water through the desert, capturing how it brings bursts of color and life to the landscape. Rather than creating literal depictions of wildflowers, Brian uses a more mechanical approach that complements the project’s abstract interpretation of desert blooms. The result is an explosion of color and pattern, bringing energy and movement into the space. This incredibly diverse collection included a hanging installation, sculpture, 3-D printed ceramics, wall vinyl, framed prints, and even a subtle use of golf balls - all coming together to represent the journey through the local landscape.

"What we really enjoyed and were impressed by was what Indiewalls brought to the table when we started doing our initial ideation and concepting. The workshopping was really impressive, what was brought to the table when we were kind of stuck on how the piece should affect the space and how it should supplement and complement the space."
