THE STORY

In the entrance of upscale Chinese restaurant Philippe Chow, this hanging art installation reimagines traditional Chinese lanterns as a glowing canopy suspended overhead. The result is a memorable first impression that elevates the guest experience to create a natural Instagram-worthy moment.

INSPIRED BY CHINESE LANTERNS

The lanterns are illuminated in a variety of hues and gently move to bring rhythm and energy into the space. Framing the entry, two large infinity mirrors embedded with LED lights and miniature lanterns multiply the installation to create an immersive, dreamlike environment.

PRODUCTION, MATERIALS & EXECUTION

We led curatorial direction across material selection, scale studies, and lighting design. Precise lantern placement was guided by ceiling clearances and door swing requirements, while close coordination with local fabricators ensured seamless installation on a tight schedule. The result is a memorable visual moment made possible through detailed engineering and collaboration.

“WE WANTED GUESTS TO FEEL A SHIFT THE MOMENT THEY WALK IN. THE LANTERNS AND MIRRORS WORK TOGETHER TO CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE THAT IS BOTH WARM AND SLIGHTLY SURREAL. AN INVITATION TO PAUSE, LOOK CLOSELY, AND TAKE IN THE GLOW OF A NEW EXPERIENCE.”
