Intuitive Abstract Paintings
Scaled and small-batch fiber artwork designed to transcend time and place

CHRISTA KIMBLE

A Focused, Yet Free, Approach

Thin layers of acrylic paint, ink, and dyes create dreamy abstractions that hint at the natural landscapes that inspired them. Christa's process requires a balance between intention and observation; after applying color and marks to the canvas, she tips and angles it to allow the materials to interact and disperse as she keeps careful watch.

Unexpected Details Speak Volumes

Headphones and cords woven into a project spanning 10 stories for Amazon's Manhattan office. Three-dimensional letter beads and daisy chains as a nod to summer camp. Colors that mirror a nearby mountain range.

It's the little touches that add up to tell a bigger story behind the art.

Painting as an Introspective Portal

Christa has long viewed painting as a meditative dance with the present moment, where every internal thought and external gesture is subsequently recorded on the canvas. Each final artwork then bids viewers to take in those calming, ethereal images and go inward themselves for a moment of stillness.

The Intuitive Art Movement

Intuitive art is a form of abstractism, but it also stands on its own as a relatively new movement. Intuitive artists like Christa use their intuition to create; rather than beginning a project with a specific end goal in mind, Christa comes to the canvas to see what will unfold and enjoy the process, making in-the-moment decisions every step of the way.
